Donington Park

Overview
Donington Park is one of the finest motor racing venues in the country. Situated in the heart of the Midlands between Nottingham and Derby. The track is a nice quick flowing affair in national configuration, the Craner Curves being a real treat. Donington hosted a wet European Grand Prix in 1993 when Ayrton Senna drove a spectacular first lap going from 4th to 1st.

Facilities
Donington’s facilities are very good with on site fuel, pit stop diner and paddock garages. Also being very close to Castle Donington anything that is not available on site is quickly available to hand.

Getting There
Donington is located on the A453 near to Nottingham East Midlands Airport. This is only 5 minutes from the M1 Junction 23a or 24. Click here for a map.

Track Guide
Leaving the pits it is straight into the Redgate, the fist corner, this is a 90 degree right hander taken at about 50mph in 3rd gear. Then it is flat out through the right hander at Hollywood before the challenging left into Craner curves, there is a slight bump on entry which will unsettle the car so be careful. Then Old Hairpin arrives far too quickly, hard on the brakes for what appears to be an impossibly tight right hander before accelerating through Schwantz curve to the right at McLeans. Next up a small hill to Coppice, a tricky right hander because the turn point is before you can see the corner, then down Starkey’s Straight under the famous Dunlop Bridge reaching a top speed of about 110 mph before braking for the Esses a tricky right left before heading on to the start finish straight and back to Redgate.
